If you keep missing targets or score very low even after repeated practices, it is likely that your movements are not tracked or detected properly by Active Arcade for the following reasons:
There is a change of player with significantly different body height.
When there is a significantly different body height change (e.g. adults vs. young children) during a game, the movements may not be detected properly. Try restarting the game and go through the setup process again.
The front-facing camera detects bodies of non-players or other objects during a game.
Try avoid playing in a crowded or high traffic area where other people/objects would come in and out of the line of sight of the camera. If possible, try to play in an area with a plain and static background. It is also important to avoid clothing:
- With dense, repetitive patterns like grids and small animals.
- Of the same color as your background, e.g. white clothes with white walls in the background.
The front-facing camera is not placed at the right height and tilted angle.
Please refer to How can I set up my device to play Active Arcade?. Make sure the front-facing camera can see your full body if you play a full-body game, e.g. Laser Dodge, Box Attack, Cone Knockout, High Kicks. For half-body games, do not put the device on the ground because the extremely high tilted angle of the camera will distort the body proportion, making the head smaller than normal and the torso bigger than normal.
Players' faces, eyes or hands are covered partially
Recognizing players' face, especially eyes, and hands are critical for detecting body movements accurately. Avoid covering your face or eyes, e.g. by long hair, hats or facial masks. If you must wear a facial mask, choose blue or lighter color ones. Please also make sure your hands are not covered, e.g. by long sleeve shirts.
There is not enough lighting or there is a very strong backlight
If your play environment is not properly lit, whether it is too dim or too bright, the camera will not be able to detect your body movements.
